Two of my college volleyball teammates grew up in California and now live about a mile apart in the San Francisco area. Which is pretty lucky for me, because I got to visit them last week. They are both married to great guys, who were also my college friends, and they each have two awesome, cute, amazing kids. Good friends and California, what more do you need?
I was also able to go to Lisa Congdon's illustration class at Makeshift Society, which was amazing. She talked about the profession, including building your portfolio, promoting your work, and the various illustration markets, to name just a few of the topics. It was -- no surprise here -- extremely informative and helpful. She shared a ton of great information that I furiously scribbled into my notebook. If you are interested in this field I highly recommend learning from her in any way you can (looks like she's got another class coming up in August). I've already pre-ordered her book, and from what she described and shared during the class, it is going to be amazing. I failed to take any photos from the talk, but trust me, it was great!
Here are some more photographs from my visit, all of which were taken with my iPhone, including a day wandering in San Francisco, a page from my sketchbook, and the mandatory visit to In-N-Out Burger.
