I broke in the new studio in style last weekend with Art-A-Whirl, a three day open studio event in northeast Minneapolis. I moved into the space last month, and it's been a crazy few weeks of painting, moving in, organizing, and preparing. It was a lot of work -- a lot -- but it was completely worth it. I met some great new people, met more of the other artists in the building, and after years of being a guest at Art-A-Whirl, it was amazing to actually have my own studio with visitors walking through looking at my art and illustrations. It was surreal and I don't think it's quite set in yet.
Here are a few photographs I took of the studio before the visitors started to arrive.
There's nothing like a deadline to make me get things in order, so while the last few weeks have been stressful, it was all worth it. I'm looking forward to leaving the moving in and setting up phase of this process behind and getting back to focusing on the painting.
If you happened to stop by the studio last weekend, thank you!! I really, truly appreciate it.
