No, it certainly isn't spring yet. There is still snow (lots of snow) in my yard. There is snow in the forecast. There is snow everywhere. So despite my best efforts to think that spring is just around the corner, I know that it is still very much March in Minnesota. But more and more lately I see a hint of something that reminds me of spring, and I optimistically remember that after March comes April. April means baseball, rain showers, and hints of green peaking through the ground. However, I then look at the snow stacked up in my yard several feet high and wonder if it really will ever go away. But it will. And I can't wait. Even though Minnesota winters are hard, and this winter has been especially long, cold, and snowy, I do love the complete sense of renewal that comes with spring. The end of the long winter hibernation. But not quite yet. It is still March after all.
So in the spirit of hopeful thoughts of spring, I painted this watercolor several days ago. I painted this based on a photo I took of some flowers for sale on a sidewalk in Paris during my trip last May. I stumbled upon the photo a few days ago while organizing some stuff on my computer, and the moment I spotted it I knew I wanted to paint it. Pink, yellow, white, green. Just like spring.
